JAN-2000        7610'            1 Day             NZ 12 Multi-Pitch
The Remarkables hang over Queenstown, NZ.  This was one of many rock climbs Matt
Porter and I turned an Mt Cook summit attempt into, once the weather took us off of
our objective.

The rock is a beautiful grey schist with quartz veins.  This climb had steep slabs with
corners, roofs and overlaps.  There are a few cracks.  The view from the summit was
remarkable, including Cook, Aspiring and Tasman.

Our route was Alpha up the Single Cone east face which involved 4+ pitches.  Super
first multi-pitch rock experience for me.
